Location Course

A one-day location photography course in the World Heritage city of Bath.

Spend the day in Bath learning how to take more interesting photographs.  Ideal for beginners and keen amateur photographers who would like to learn how to move from using their cameras on automatic and taking more control.  Neill will explain clearly how your camera meter works and how, why and when to use manual or the other shooting modes.

What will you learn?

On this exciting one-day photographic exploration of England’s’ most stunning world heritage site Neill will:

  • Look at the theory of composition and help you compose your images more effectively
  • Share with you the ingredients that make the best cityscapes
  • Take you to the best and most hidden viewpoints in Bath
  • Guide you around the beautiful Georgian city showing you the prime locations and how to capture their potential.
  • Teach you some technical tricks including the use of filters and lenses
  • Discuss the importance of lighting and mood
  • Help to clarify and explain some of the complexities of digital photography, digital cameras and their controls
  • Explore the city and increase your awareness of picture opportunities

And above all enjoy the spirit of adventure!

When do the courses run?

Start time is 9:00am for an introductory talk over coffee at a city centre cafe in Bath. We then set out on foot to visit the following locations in the morning session: Bennett Street, Assembly Rooms, The Circus, Hedgemead Park, The Paragon, Walcot Street and Pulteney Bridge. We break for lunch (and practice or shopping!) for an hour at 1:00pm

We meet again from 2:00pm until 5:30pm. We resume our tour of the city from York Street and take in Abbey Churchyard, Abbey Green, North Parade Passage, North Parade, The River Avon, the sweeping view from Alexandra Park and finishes in Widcombe.
