Half Term – So, what’s the plan?
It can all be a little overwhelming trying to come up with plans to entertain the kids for half-term.The temptation to not brave the cold and to altogether avoid the desperate hunt for scarves and gloves and perhaps ear-warmers can be very powerful. But then again, how willing are you to accept the statement of ‘I’m bored’ as the soundtrack of your Halloween?
Don’t panic though. We’ve got you sorted.
We’ve sifted through the best events going on in and around Bath and found some true gems. Who knows, you might even have more fun than the kids.
David Walliam’s Awful Auntie at The Theatre Royal Bath 23rd-27th October
Only one day left to enjoy this one so you better be quick. Full of humour and colour, this adaptation of 2014 Best Selling Children’s Book will have both you and your kids giggling.
Spooky Stage Sets at The Holburne Museum 30th-31st October
Time to get a bit creative. Join everyone at the Holburne Museum during their free family drop in to make a halloween themed mini-stage set.
Spookley Pumpkin Festival and Smash at Farrington Gurney Farm Shop, until 2nd November
If you’re seeking some wholesome fun with the family then look no further. Choose from over 30,000 pumpkins, carve a spooky face on your chosen pumpkin on site, enjoy a trailer ride and hear the tale of Spookley the square pumpkin (sounds terrifying). Or if you can’t attend before the 31st, then switch things up a bit and take part in their new event – The Great Pumpkin Smash.
Halloween Trial @ Prior Park, 27 – 1st November
Find spooky potions around the garden to claim your prize.
Longleat Halloween Ghost Tours from 24th – 4th November
WARNING: This one sounds like it may be better for the older children… Longleat House is taking you through the unseen corners of the famous house. Expect haunting tales about its past and maybe even a sighting of the legendary Grey Lady who is rumoured to still walk the halls…
Free Spanish Class at Tapas Revolution – 31st and 2nd
Departing from the spooky route for anyone who wants a break from the vampires and black cats. Tapas Revolution is offering free Spanish classes for your kids, PLUS you’ll receive 50% off your food bill if you stay for lunch.
Light up Lansdown at Bath Racecourse – 2nd November
This is a jam-packed event, complete with fireworks, funfair rides, a bonfire and a range of places to eat and drink. Toffee Apples for the kids, mulled wine for mum. It’s a cheap one as well – book in advance and the tickets are just £3.
Fantastic Fireworks 1-3rd November
Longleat never fails to provide some good options and this year it’s offering you the chance to witness a sky of fireworks set to an epic soundtrack. The price is included with the park entry so you can make a day of it.
Happy Hour at Better Extreme Trampoline Park Bath Sat 5-6pm/Sun 4-5pm
Get a hop on. Or a bounce. Either one is welcome at Better Extreme Trampoline Park. Go between 5-6pm on Saturday and 4-5pm on Sunday and it’s cheaper too!
Bath Murder Mystery Treasure Trail 26 October – Monday 31 December
This one might be our favourite. Ideal for those aged 6 years and above, this downloadable Murder Mystery Trail leads you around the iconic scenery of Bath, eliminating suspects as you go. It’s self guided so you can take it at your own pace and you even get clues sent to your phone – just in case.
